Biljarten

At Hotel-Café-Restaurant De Kroon, it’s not just about food and drink; local clubs play a key role too. For instance, we serve as the home base for the ‘Ons Genoegen’ billiards club.

The club comprises three teams: one competes in the KNBB C3 league, while the other two play in the KNBB C2. These teams regularly showcase their skills on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays—and it is always a pleasure to watch them play.

Tourclub

Another very active association is Tourclub De Kroon, founded in 1985. The club originated at the bar of HCR De Kroon in Wissenkerke, where, on a Saturday evening, Peter de Looff proposed the idea of starting a cycling club. Following the inaugural ride, other enthusiastic cyclists soon joined, and the club quickly grew to around 25 members. Sponsors were sought to fund the club kit, and several were found willing to provide financial support for the coming years.

An increasing number of activities were organized, such as a cycling weekend in Limburg, indoor roller cycling sessions during the annual general meeting, and various touring rides both within and outside Zeeland. Some members even completed the Maastricht–Den Helder ride on a few occasions. Members also contribute to the annual *Ronde van Noord-Beveland* (Tour of Noord-Beveland)—a genuine classic for amateur cyclists covering a distance of over 100 kilometers, with the start and finish in Wissenkerke. At the end of each season, members test their strength against one another in an individual time trial covering approximately 35 kilometers.

Tourclub De Kroon

Tourclub De Kroon is an active association for recreational cyclists. Founded in 1985, the club celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2025. In recent years, membership has grown to over 50 people. Tourclub De Kroon is a true "touring club," meaning that anyone with a reasonable level of physical fitness can enjoy cycling with the group.

During the summer season, there are three scheduled club rides each week: on Tuesday mornings, Thursday evenings, and Sunday mornings. During the winter season, rides take place on Tuesday and Sunday mornings. Departure times are as follows: Sunday mornings (during Daylight Saving Time): 9:30 AM; (during standard time): 10:00 AM. Thursday evenings (during Daylight Saving Time): 7:00 PM. Tuesday mornings (during Daylight Saving Time): 9:00 AM; (during standard time): 9:30 AM.

The start and finish point is always HCR De Kroon in Wissenkerke.

Depending on the number of members present, we ride in either one or two groups. We split into two groups if there are more than 14 members. We do this primarily for safety and to maintain a consistent pace, ensuring everyone can enjoy the ride in the group that suits them best and return home safely. Group 1 rides at an average speed of 30–32 km/h, while Group 2 rides at approximately 27–30 km/h. Ultimately, we always adhere to the "start together, finish together" principle; this means the pace is adjusted if someone is struggling or running out of steam. This applies to every group, as well as when we ride as a single group.

Each year, we participate in a number of great cycling tours in the Netherlands or Belgium.

You are, of course, welcome to join us for a ride at any time to get a feel for the atmosphere (including afterwards at the bar).
